"...and I really don't know where the whole rumor about Asgardians needing to eat golden apples to retain their youth thing came from," he says. "We age and die, just like anything or anyone else. It's like the whole God thing. Who came up with that?" A beat. "I mean, humans, I guess, but why gods? Why not aliens? Aliens -- that's at least accurate. "

Thor smiles over at Quill and leans contentedly over the bar. Chin set in one hand, he idly pours himself another glass with the other, then sets the bottle back down on the counter with an audible, dull glassy sound. He pushes it towards Quill.

"Had you met any Asgardians before you met me?"

He shrugged and shook his head at the same time.

"I'm not a Ravager anymore," He said. "I'm a Guardian. We have a different code. A better one."

The Guardians didn't officially have anything.

Thor glances over at Quill.

"And what's your Guardian code?"

Quill felt there was a code. He thought his team was basically the best thing in the world.

What would Gamora say?

"To save people. Help them." He said off the fly. "To stand up for injustice..."

And usually get paid for our services... but he doesn't need to know that

Quill cleared his throat and then downed the liquid in his glass. He pushed his empty glass to Thor's side.

"What about you guys? You have some fancy Asgardian decree?" He asked.

"Not Asgardian, no, but there is something specific to King of Asgard that I tried to live by even before my coronation."

Thor would say it, but he's not sure he can.

Quill tried to consider what those might be. He imagined they were much more self-righteous than the Guardians actually were.

"There is one big rule on my ship though. Punishable by death." He said, exaggerating the last part. "No one touches my playlist."

Thor shoots Quill an incredulous look.

"You'd put someone to death for that?"

Thor glances down at his drink. If anyone were going to put someone to death for touching their music, it would probably be Quill, come to think of it.

"Hey, music's important." He said. "I used to have this mixed tape my mom made for me. Some of the best songs ever. Helped me on the job, you know? Then it got destroyed because of my ahole of a dad."

"Mixed tape?" Thor echoes, his brow furrowed.

"Yeah. It's like, a tape," Quill said, gesturing it's shape and size with his hands. "You put it into a boombox or walkman? People make them all the time for people they love. I planned on making one for Gamora at some point."

Thor's pretty sure he has a grasp on this.

"So like a CD, but one you make yourself?"

"Yeah. Except it's a cassette." He said. "I mean, CDs are cool, too, but -"

He shrugged. Quill liked the classics.

"My mom put a bunch of songs on there she thought I'd like." He said. "Some of them because they reminded her of me, some because they expressed how she felt about me. Others were to pump me up."

Then it was destroyed

Quill filled his glass up and took a long drink.

Thor mulls over this and downs his drink.

"Can you teach me how to make one?" he asks. "I'll make one for Tony and you can make yours for Gamora."

He almost opened his mouth to remind Thor that he was dead and he'd never see Gamora again. Quill thought better of it.

"Yeah, sure." He replied. "I bet I could scrounge up two somewhere. We could totally do that."

"Good," he says, grinning. "We'll show our love through song." He had been wondering what he'd do for Tony for Christmas. Granted that Tony even wanted to end their break before Christmas, which was still up in the air at the moment.

Hence, Thor's insistence on drinks that night.

"If I sing a little can you help me to figure out a few songs?"

"You... want to sing?" Quill asked, surprised. "I mean, yeah. Sure. I could help with that too."

"No, no, no," Thor says, shaking his head vigorously. "I just don't know the names of them. I need you to help me figure the names out."

Thor is the worst at singing. He's at least cognizant of this fact.

Quill looked somewhat relieved.

"Oh yeah, sure." He said. "I should be able to figure it out. No problem."

"Do you know the New York song? The one that's like New York, New York?"

If Thor can help it, he'd prefer not to have to sing at all.

"Do you mean, Start spreadin' the news, I'm leavin' today, I want to be a part of it, New York, New York." He sang.

Quill could carry a tune even though he would never win awards for it.

Thor claps his hands together excitedly.

"Yeah, that one! That's the one. Who sings it?"

"Frank Sinatra. It's a classic." He said. "Good song. Fits Stark too."

He nodded. He was impressed with Thor's first choice.

"Frank Sinatra," Thor says to himself, and then he repeats it a few times under his breath like a mantra. He pours himself another glass. "You know, Tony sang that for me once when I was visiting. Jane had been pretty ticked off at me and I crashed at Avengers Tower for a few days."

Thor shoots a finger at Quill. "When everything's done and over with, you and the Guardians should stop by for a couple of days. We can all go ice skating at Rockefeller Center or something."

"I would literally pay to see Rocket on ice, so, you're on." He said with a laugh. "Actually, most of them."

He thought Mantis would love the snow.

"I have to wonder if Earth is really ready to meet the Gaurdians, but we're up to the challenge" He said.

"I can make it snow if it doesn't happen this year," he says. So if Quill wants the chilly weather, he can make it happen. "But there's no way I can freeze ice."

He knows someone who can, but Loki was doggedly insistent it wasn't possible.

"I think Earth could use a little more weirdness anyhow," he says. "The only aliens they've met that they know of are me, my brother, and Thanos'..." Thor gestures with his glass, liquid jostling around inside. "I don't know... children. And their weird alien-pet-beast-things."

"Well I'm glad I didn't meet any of them." He said. "I mean, other than Gamora and Nebula. They're cool. But they jumped ship a while back. Anyone who stayed on the crazy train were probably not fun to meet."

He drank some of his alcohol.

"You know one of the things I miss the most, though?" He continued. "This is going to sound weird but, pop rocks."
